Ex-Cobbler O'Toole among 12 released by Burton

Former Cobblers midfielder John-Joe O'Toole is one of 12 players to have been released by Burton Albion.

The 32-year-old spent two seasons at the Pirelli Stadium following his release from Northampton in 2019, but made only four appearances in 2021 as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took over.

O'Toole made 194 appearances across five years at the Cobblers, scoring 35 goals and famously helping the club to the League Two title in 2016.

Joining O'Toole on Burton's released list are Colin Daniel, Jevan Anderson, Owen Gallacher, Neal Eardley, Stephen Quinn, Luke Varney, Mike Fondop, Reece Hutchinson, Ben Fox, Tom Armitage and Ben Hart.

Elsewhere, Luke Chambers, another former Cobbler, has been released by Ipswich.
