Town have played better than their league position (17th) suggests, winning four and losing six – all by just one goal – of their opening 11 league games. They are just three points off the top 10 and currently five above the bottom four. Here’s how we grade every player so far (minimum three league starts)….
9. Shaun McWilliams
Frustrated by injury in the opening month but he's been impressive since returning to the team and was particularly superb in the win over Exeter... B+ Photo: Pete Norton
10. Marc Leonard
Arguably Northampton's outstanding player of the season so far. He's played every minute of every game and has dominated in the middle of the park. He makes the most passes per game, most key passes, most tackles and most interceptions... A+ Photo: Pete Norton
11. Mitch Pinnock
Has a couple of goals, including *that* winner against Peterborough, and is often Town's main creative threat... B+ Photo: Pete Norton
12. Sam Hoskins
He's continued his fine form from last season and remains Town's go-to main for goals. Has five already this season, including key strikes against Lincoln, Cheltenham, Reading and Exeter... A Photo: Pete Norton
