Ryan Edmondson has opened his goal account for the Cobblers after being awarded Town's fourth during Saturday's thumping win over Portsmouth.

Sam Hoskins was initially credited with the goal after his well-judged lob from outside the box looped over Pompey goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray and seemingly into the net.

But Edmondson charged towards the goalmouth with a Portsmouth defender and made absolutely sure the ball crossed the line.

With both men claiming the goal afterwards, it has officially been awarded to the Leeds United loanee by the dubious goals committee, his first for Northampton in 12 appearances.

Hoskins will have be happy with a brilliant assist rather than a superb individual strike.
