Edinburgh left frustrated as Erwin's late hammer blow sinks Cobblers

Tope Odebayi's first-half goal put the Latics into a half-time lead in a crucial relegation six-pointer at Sixfields before John-Joe O'Toole's 84th minute goal seemingly rescued a point for the Cobblers.

But Lee Ewrin had other ideas, firing home from 20 yards in stoppage time to snatch a vital win for Oldham whilst also condemning Northampton to a defeat which leaves them 17th and just four points above relegation.

"We're hurting," said Edinburgh. "It's not a nice feeling and I made that quite clear - we're not enjoying this moment and what people now want to see is a reaction on Saturday.

"I'm really disappointed. I think to get ourselves back into the game as we did, we're obviously bitterly disappointed to have lost the game.

"Late goals are something that needs addressing and it's not the first time it's happened. It's not a habit you want to have.

"We've spoke about it and we understand it and we know the crowd are frustrated and rightly so.

"We can't underestimate the form Oldham are in but if we come off with a point, we can continue to build on something.

"But now it's back to building again and it's been a really frustrating evening.

"I thought we started the game really well but again we didn't take our chances and we allowed them the opportunity to get in front.

"The first-half was scrappy but we had a real good response second-half and went at Oldham, but we should have seen out the draw and moved on.

"Every game between now and the end of the season is going to be big because we need to get a few more points on the board before we can rest.

"We've got an opportunity to correct it on Saturday. We're disappointed and the crowd have gone away not seeing us continue the run that we were on but we've got to be better."
