Departing Northampton Town pair join ex-Cobblers at PFA training
Tom Eaves and Lee Burge have joined more than 40 free agents who are training with the Professional Footballers' Association this week, including two other ex-Cobblers (full list below).
The PFA started running fully-funded summer camps for professional players who are out of contract two years ago. This summer it has been expanded to 12 weeks, running from late June into September so players who still haven't found clubs can remain fit as they look for a new permanent home.
Eaves was released by Cobblers in May after two seasons at the club. The 34-year-old striker scored 15 goals in 62 games and finished last season as the team’s top scorer with 10 in all competitions. Goalkeeper Burge, meanwhile, was initially offered a new contract at the end of the 2025/26 campaign but that was later withdrawn as Chris Hogg opted to bring in Zach Jeacock from Lincoln.
Both Eaves and Burge are now among 45 free agents training with the PFA this week, joining fellow former Northampton pair John Marquis and Tyler Magloire.
