Cobblers wing-back Joseph Mills has been sent to see a specialist to discover the severity of the ankle injury he suffered against Peterborough United last weekend.

The 30-year-old limped off in the second-half against Posh and did not feature in the squad for Saturday's trip to Plymouth Argyle.

"Mills is going to see another specialist on Tuesday," revealed Keith Curle. "He's had a scan but we need a second opinion so he's been sent for a referral."

Joe Nuttall faces a period of time out following a knee operation (story above) but Shaun McWilliams has pulled up well after limping off with cramp at the weekend.

"I spoke to Nacho on Sunday and nobody rang up and came in so we've got a clean bill of health from the Plymouth game," said Curle.

"Shaun has showed his versatility but he also showed he was able to not play for a while and then come in and start and that's what we want in the squad.

"You can't ignore players who are not in the team but we have a squad mentality and everybody has to be ready, even if you haven't played for a couple of weeks.

"Make sure you're doing your extra work because you've got ability and at the drop of a hat you could be in the building and tactics for a particular game might dictate that your skillset is needed so make sure you're ready and then take your opportunity.

"That was typified by Shaun on Saturday because I gave him a specific job to do and I thought he did it very well."
