Deadline day update from Sixfields - Kevin Nolan 'very hopeful' of new signing

Kevin Nolan has provided a deadline day update four hours from the closing of the transfer window as Cobblers remain in talks to add to their squad before 7pm.

Nolan and technical director Colin Calderwood, alongside Alex Latimer and James Whiting, are working on trying to get a deal done as we speak. The window officially closes at 7pm this evening, although deals can go to 9pm if clubs submit the correct paperwork in time.

Speaking on Monday afternoon, Nolan said: “It’s been a busy day and we’re looking at players and there’s lots of players being thrown at us. Alex is here, James is here, Col’s here and we’re all having a good look at players who we think could come in and help us and give us something different.

"That’s where we’re at right now and it’s going to be a busy evening. I’m very hopeful that we’ll get some business done by the end of the window, but it has to match exactly what we want and what we need. We won't do it for the sake of it.

"We’ve been thrown loads of players in the last week but you have to single them out – is it the right player in the right position? You have to box clever and you have to wait for that right one. We’re working hard and we’re having a right go and hopefully we will have some news in the next few hours. “
