Assistant manager Colin West, goalkeeping coach Dan Watson and chief scout Simon Tracey have all signed new two-year contracts at the Cobblers.

The trio have followed manager Keith Curle in committing their futures to Northampton following last week's play-off final victory over Exeter City at Wembley.

West joined the Cobblers alongside Curle in October 2018, while Watson and Tracey completed the backroom team later in the same month, and between them they have led the club back to League One.

"Colin, Dan and Simon are all trusted and valued members of staff who played an important part in our promotion," said Curle.

"They have all bought into the ethos of the club, they understand the environment we have created and how we want to take that forward.

"Individually they have consistently high standards and they demand that of those around them too. They are good professionals, good characters and have an excellent work ethic.

"Continuity is important and I am delighted we have retained all three members of staff. They are all important parts of the team who uphold the demands we place on everyone in the dressing room.

"They are not yes men and that is important. They are not afraid to voice their opinions and to challenge things and I value that. I don't just want people to sit there nodding at me, everyone needs to be challenged to improve.

"We have had a big turnaround in playing personnel in the last 18 months or so and that has played a big part in our success. The recruitment hasn’t just happened by accident, the work of the staff has been huge in not just identifying good players, but good characters who are a good fit for us and at the right time too.

"Some of the players we have signed have been at opposite ends of their careers, and that shows how wide our spectrum of recruitment is and how hard the staff work to ensure we recruit the right people to help to take us forward.

"This is excellent news for the club and I look forward to continuing to work with Colin, Dan and Simon."
