Curle won't change his approach for big-hitting Hull City

'It's vitally important to get our first home win. We've got our first three points on the board but now we need to build on that because we know there's still more to come from us when everybody is fit.'

Keith Curle does not plan on changing his approach for a clash with one of the hot favourites for promotion this season as Hull City visit the PTS on Saturday.

The Tigers, a Premier League side only three years ago, boast a squad full of quality and talent, and they also come to Northampton in good form having won their opening two fixtures.

Only Peterborough and Sunderland have shorter odds for the League One title this season and Curle knows it will be a stiff test for his side.

He said: "They had a fantastic rise but they've been on a slight decline with the relegations and they'll have to readjust and go through a period to put down the fundamentals for this division.

"But it's a very good squad, a very good team and a very good manager. They've got a lot of things stacked in their favour and there's a lot of quality in their squad and they'll be able to attract some decent players because of the stature they've had very recently.

"But attracting good players isn't the be all and end all. It's getting that link and getting that unity and putting in performances and getting results."

Cobblers themselves have started the season well, taking four points from the first two games, and Curle is hoping it'll be more of the same tomorrow as they target a first home victory of the campaign.

"It's vitally important to get our first home win," he added. "We've got our first three points on the board but now we need to build on that because we know there's still more to come from us when everybody is fit.

"Even now, for the players that competed on Saturday, there's still room for improvement. We're very respectful in our approach to every opposition that we play against.

"We do our homework and we don't change our approach - we look at strengths and weaknesses and we know, ultimately, we have to stop the opposition from playing and then earn the right to play ourselves.

"That doesn't change whoever we play, whether we play against top of the table or bottom of the table. It's about us doing our job and us doing our work. If we see a weakness, we want to exploit it. If we see a strength, we want to nullify it."
