Keith Curle is well aware of the reasons why his side's FA Cup tie at Oxford City this evening has been chosen for live television coverage.

With 65 places separating Town from the Hoops in the football pyramid, the BT Sport cameras are heading to Court Place Farm hoping to witness a major upset.

Already this weekend several EFL sides have been humbled in the first round of the competition, with Colchester beaten by eighth-tier Marine, Wigan losing at home to Chorley and Barnet defeating Burton Albion.

"The TV cameras will be there for a reason and that's the beauty of the FA Cup because over 90, 95 minutes, anything can happen," said Curle. "There's been plenty of upsets in the past and there will be plenty more.

"I remember when I was manager of Carlisle we went and played St Albans and we were 1-0 down after five minutes. Junior Morias scored that day and it kick-started his career.

"I know it will be a challenge because it's an opportunity for their players to give a good account of themselves and represent their club and their team and they will give it everything.

"But, likewise, we've got a changing room that is exactly the same. We are very proud to represent our football club and we will make sure we put in a performance that is worthy of us wearing the shirt."

The decision to move the tie to Monday night meant Northampton enjoyed a rare Saturday off.

"It's different for the players to have a Saturday afternoon at home," said Curle. "The lads had an opportunity to sit and watch Soccer Saturday for the first time in a long time! The staff were out watching games."
