Keith Curle believes new signing Peter Kioso will strengthen the Cobblers at both ends of the pitch after securing the youngster on a loan deal from Luton Town.

The 21-year-old is a defender by trade but impressed for League Two side Bolton Wanderers both at the back and in attack during an excellent loan stint earlier in the season.

The Hatters recalled Kioso from Bolton at the start of January but with Curle a long-time admirer, they have decided to let him leave again, this time up a division.

"Peter came on our radar when he was at Hartlepool a couple of years ago," explained Curle. "We monitored him and he did very well when he went out on loan a Bolton earlier in the season.

"He's attack-minded but he's a good one-on-one defender and he will compete at the back post aerially and he loves a tackle. He also likes to get on the front foot and and he can use a football in terms of pass selection and getting forward.

"He won't shy away from the physical challenge or the tactical challenge and he's a bright lad who's ready to take the step up.

"We thank Luton for seeing us as a club who can help Peter's development and progression. He's a young player with aspirations to play in the Championship and in the Premier League.

"He wants the challenge of playing in League One and it's another tick in the box for the recruitment department."
