Keith Curle hit out at Will Boye's poor challenge on Ryan Watson in the first-half of Cobblers' defeat at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday evening.

With 30 minutes gone and the teams level at 1-1, Boyle launched himself into a wild challenge on Watson near the halfway line, seemingly catching the Town midfielder on his ankle.

Boyle was only booked for the incident and Cheltenham made the most of the lucky escape, winning out 2-1.

"The disappointing thing for me is the tackle on Ryan Watson by their lad in the first-half," said Curle.

"I don't think he'll be proud of that tackle because it's not a good tackle."

As for the game itself, Curle was frustrated his side couldn't make the most of their perfect start after Watson's third-minute goal.

"We had a decent platform, we made a great start to the game and I thought we rocked them," he added.

"We had a few moments. Sam Hoskins should have hit the target and Callum Morton had a good little bit of play to create space but scuffed his shot a little bit.

"We watched them play and we know they do have good movement but I felt we had a good, strong foothold in the game.

"Their goals came at disappointing times but I will go and analyse them because every goal has an origin and we need to be more competitive. It was too easy to allow someone to have a shot at our goal."
