Curle giving nothing away over injuries to Cobblers trio

Keith Curle was giving very little away regarding the severity of various injuries suffered by his players following Tuesday's EFL Trophy defeat to MK Dons.

Harry Smith, Joseph Mills and Luka Racic all had to come off during Tuesday's game at Stadium MK and the trio now look set to join Sam Hoskins and Nicky Adams, among others, in the treatment room.

But Curle would not go into the specifics of those injuries and instead chose to keep his cards close to his chest ahead of Saturday's League One opener against AFC Wimbledon.

"We'll be okay! I'm not going to give anything away but what I will say is that we will be competitive on Saturday," he said.

"We have some knocks and there's some bits and pieces which you're going to get when you play two competitive games in a short space of time

"But that's what we're trying to build in the football club - robust players that can play with little knocks and little niggles and bumps and bruises.

"We just said it in the dressing room after the game tonight, it's first league fixture of the season on Saturday so go and grab the shirt.

"When players get injured, it's then an opportunity for other players to step up and get the minutes they desperately crave."

There was good news regarding two of Curle's new recruits as he added: "Benny (Ashley-Seal) is available for selection on Saturday and Joe Nuttal is also close to being available - amazing things can happen in 24 hours!"
