Keith Curle is keeping his fingers crossed that neither Mickel Miller nor Jack Sowerby face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after both limped off against Lincoln City on Saturday.

Miller, making his debut, made a bright start to the game but had to be replaced by Ricky Korboa after 36 minutes due to a hamstring strain.

Sowerby took a knock to his knee early in the second-half and also departed after briefly trying to run the problem off.

With a packed schedule to come, Curle will be desperate not to lose either player to a long-term injury.

"It's a potential hamstring injury with Mickell and a potential knee injury for Jack," said Curle. "But we need to wait until they settle down so we can do a diagnoses and get more information on them.

"But they'll be in and they'll be getting treatment and we'll assess them and give them the relevant treatment. They are both important players, especially with how we played in the first-half because we were in the ascendency and we looked a comfortable team in possession."

A lengthy lay-off for Miller in particular would be a blow on the evidence of his brief appearance against Lincoln.

"Mickel is a good player and he's got good dynamics and good ball mastery," Curle added. "He's also able to cover ground - one minute you think you've got him and the next thing you know you're wondering where he's gone.

"He was dropping short and getting on the ball and that's the freedom we want to keep in his play, but obviously now we need to make sure he's right and we get him back on the pitch.

"That's just part of the loan window because you are predominantly bringing in players who are not as finely-tuned as you would want and they haven't been playing week in, week out for their parent clubs.

"We'll do work with them and make sure they're robust because we have a lot of games coming up, but we have a competitive squad and we also have other good players who are ready and able to come in."
