Manager Keith Curle is satisfied with Cobblers' progress in the transfer market but admits they face competition from rival clubs for his main targets.

The Town boss wants to bring in two or three fresh faces this month, likely to be on loan, to bolster his side in their quest for survival in Sky Bet League One.

Quality at the top end of the pitch is thought to be the priority for Curle this month, however with other clubs also keen to strengthen, there is no guarantee that Cobblers will land their first-choice targets.

"I think we are where we expected to be in terms of the communication with the players that we are looking at," said Curle.

"We're no different to most other clubs. We have irons in the fire and we've progressed a few targets whereby we have been given permission by clubs to speak to their players.

"But we're looking at players that will have interest from other football clubs so it's about making our pitch to those players and expressing to them the value that we think they will bring to us.

"Players want to know where they're going to be playing, how the team plays, how I see them fitting into the team and how they will be successful at our club.

"That's the same for lots of other football clubs and they'll all be doing exactly the same thing. The one thing you won't get from me is the names of those targets because the last thing we need is more competition for the signatures for those players that we think can improve us."
