Cobblers boss Keith Curle expects to strengthen his squad even further this week following the arrivals of Ricky Korboa and Joe Nuttall.

Nuttall, a striker on loan from Blackpool, and Korboa, who signed after a successful trial during pre-season, are Town's seventh and eighth signings of the summer and both will provide competition for places in attacking areas of the pitch.

But with the window still open for another month and the League One season not starting until next week, Curle's work in the transfer market is far from complete.

"I still think there will be additions to the squad before the start of the season and we're adding competition within the squad all the time," he said.

"The players that are coming in, they're picking up and embedding the fundamentals and that will be paramount as to how we perform this season."

On which positions he wants to strengthen, Curle added: "I think everybody knows that we still do need a few more attacking options.

"I'm also looking at another midfield player and also probably one more central defender."

Curle is a big fan of Nuttall, who signed on Monday, and hopes to get the best out of the 23-year-old forward during his nine months at the club.

"He's a big, strong, powerful boy that can finish," said Curle. "He's got a rawness and an unpredictability about him that I like.

"I don't think, in any way shape or form, that he's fulfilled his potential for various reasons but he's a young man that's very humble and very honest.

"One of the things that has impressed me is that he wants to learn, he wants to develop and he wants to play football."
