Keith Curle has confirmed that Antonio German, Samir Carruthers and Connor Johnson have all left the Cobblers following a short time on trial.

The trio featured in pre-season friendlies against Leyton Orient and West Brom U23s but Curle will not take his interest any further as he instead looks elsewhere for new signings.

"They're no longer on trial," confirmed Curle. "Those are the decisions we have to make.

"I thanked them all because they all came in and gave a very good account of themselves, but they just weren't the right pieces of the puzzle for myself at this particular time.

"But they're all good players and they all integrated and adapted very well."

Ricky Korboa remains on trial with the Cobblers after playing 73 minutes against Luton Town on Saturday, and Curle confirmed afterwards he's keen to see more of the tricky forward.

"I like Ricky," he said. "I think he's got something.

"The situation with Ricky is that there's potentially a compensation clause with Carshalton and we have to find out the details of that before we progress anything.

"I like him and I think he showed something. We're trying to give him an opportunity because we think we can progress and develop some of his skillsets that he's got and we're desperate to give him an opportunity."

Cobblers also had a mystery striker on trial for the 3-0 defeat to the Hatters, although he only lasted 15 minutes due to injury.

"He was in the team so we're looking at him and that's the best way to look at players," added a coy Curle.

"It's having the ability to bring players in, which is key. We know we need more strikers and more attacking options but the pleasing thing from today was that we were able to get 90 minutes into Harry Smith.

"He won't come up against competitors than he did today in Luton's two centre-backs but he competed well, won his fair share and gave us a platform."
