Manager Keith Curle has confirmed that the Cobblers have received 'a couple of bids' for Charlie Goode. but he insists the club are under no pressure to sell their captain.

The 24-year-old had a fine campaign as Town won promotion back to League One last season, which has inevitably caught the eye of clubs in higher divisions.

Queens Park Rangers and Middlesbrough have been heavily linked with Goode, however although Curle conceded there is 'firm interest' in his star defender, he also insisted that the Cobblers will only sell at the right price.

"There has been firm interest in Charlie and there have been a couple of bids and rightly so," Curle told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Charlie was a player we brought into the football club that needed to progress. He was under the radar and I think he was playing for Scunthorpe reserves at the time but we had a belief that there was no way Charlie had fulfilled his potential.

"In my mind, Charlie Goode is on a massive upward curve - but so are we as a club. What we've said to Charlie is that we want to maintain that upward curve together and that's what we're trying to do.

"We haven't got to sell Charlie, we don't want to sell Charlie and we don't need to sell Charlie and that's a fantastic position for us as a football club to be in because we want to bring good players to the club that are value for money - on and off the pitch."
