Keith Curle says the Cobblers 'are in the right place' to strengthen their squad prior to Friday's deadline.

The international transfer window closed on October 5 but Premier League and EFL clubs can still do business up until 5pm on Friday.

It is no secret that Curle would like to add another centre-back to compete with Luka Racic, Cian Bolger and Fraser Horsfall, but he will only act if the right player becomes available.

The Cobblers, who have made 11 signings so far this summer, could bring in players both permanently or on a temporary basis with a couple of loan places still open.

"There are certain dominoes that are waiting to get tipped," said Curle. "We're in the right place and we know where we're at financially as a club, which is important.

"We've identified potential talent that, if it becomes available at the right price for ourselves and the players want to come and join us, then we're in the position to do that.

"Every football club can improve and we know that there are players out there that could improve us. We know where we're at, we know where we want to get to and we know the financial conditions that we're operating within.

"Showing good housekeeping and getting value for money is even more important in the current climate."

In terms of players following Matty Warburton out the door, either on loan or permanently, Curle added: "It can be a knock-on effect if different dominoes fall in a certain way.

"If one player comes in, another player could go out. Ultimately, it's what about what we end up with at the end of the window."
