Cobblers boss Keith Curle said his side 'came up with the answers' to earn a deserved away point at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

Accy's play-off charge was halted by Town who dominated the first-half but could not find the end product, which meant a third successive game without scoring.

Peter Kioso, Fraser Horsfall and Jack Sowerby all came close for the visitors while Colby Bishop missed Accrington's best chance midway through the second-half.

Accy finished the game with 10 men after a late red card for Joe Pritchard.

"We were up against tough opponents and very good opponents," said Curle. "They will ask questions and I thought we came up with the answers.

"We didn't quite have enough to break the deadlock but we caused them problems, more so in the first-half when we had the better chances in open play.

"We just needed to get that goal but the important thing is, if you can't break the deadlock, make sure you do your defensive duties and remain tight at the back and I thought we did that very well today.

"If you want to stand off and admire them, they have players who can hurt you and the best way to defend sometimes is to attack and that was part of the game plan, but we also defended our goal excellently.

"We wanted to get on the front foot and we needed to put balls in the box to ask them questions and I thought we did that very well in the first-half and that set the tone for the game."
