Cobblers boss Keith Curle has thanked chairman Kelvin Thomas and the club's board of directors for the 'clarity' they've provided during these uncertain times.

Thomas reassured players and all staff in a conference call last week that they will be paid 100 per cent of their wages for as long as possible.

The full financial and practical ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic are yet to be known but as the Cobblers patiently wait for football to return, Curle has only good things to say about the club's conduct.

"The important thing is that the lines of communication have come from the top and have gone right throughout the football club," he said.

"The chairman held a meeting with all of the staff and also the player council and essentially told them where we're at as a football club and I think it's vitally important to understand where we're at and to communicate that.

"That's come right from the top and it makes my job a lot easier because you have clarity."

The Cobblers will inevitably face challenges during these unprecedented times but Curle feels the club are well-placed to overcome any hurdles.

"It's something that's been very evident from when I first came to the club in terms of the communication, the clarity and the guidelines that I'm expected to work within," he added.

"There's been a level of consistency in all of those departments and that structure is very important at any football club.

"People have heard me talk about good housekeeping in the past and we are now seeing the reasons why because, financially, we know exactly where we are as a club.

"These are unprecedented times but we know where we're at and we don't have to second guess it. If decisions need to be made further down the line, they'll be made for the right reasons."
