Cobblers are 'working on' bringing in another player or two before the January transfer window closes on February 1.

There's just over a week of the window remaining for Town to add to the signings of Ryan Edmondson, Mickel Miller and Bryn Morris, all of whom have joined the club on loan.

It's also been a busy month in terms of outgoings with Harry Smith, sent out on loan to Motherwell, and Nicky Adams, who has been allowed to sign for Oldham after a request to be closer to family, following Chris Lines, Ricky Holmes and Luka Racic out the door.

Town's three new boys all caught the eye in defeat to Lincoln on Saturday but having slipped back into the League One relegation zone, manager Keith Curle accepts his squad still needs strengthening further if they are to get out of trouble.

"We always working and we're always looking," said Curle. "We're in dialogue with a few football clubs.

"Sometimes you have your targets and the most frustrating thing is that you have to be patient but if you want the right players, you have to be prepared to wait.

"And if we don't get the right players, we move onto the next option. The next option might have slightly different dynamics than what we were looking for because it's not just a conveyor belt.

"We're looking to sign players who can fit into the ethos and the style of how we want to try and play and that's about playing attacking football, being on the front foot and having controlled possession."
