Town won the title with 99 points, 13 clear of next best Oxford United. That squad will go down in Cobblers folklore, but where are those players four years on? We take a look here...
5. Centre-back: Rod McDonald
Despite impressing in his debut season, McDonald was in and out of the side under Rob Page the following year and eventually departed for Coventry City. He signed for AFC Wimbledon a year later and has stayed there since.
6. Centre-back: Ryan Cresswell
Now 32, Cresswell has played for six different clubs since leaving the Cobblers in 2016, all of which have been in non-league. He's currently on the books of Parkgate in Division One of the Northern Counties East Football League.
7. Left-back: David Buchanan
Buchanan remained loyal to the Cobblers well beyond their success in 2016. He was a regular the following three years and only left last summer. He's played 25 games for National League strugglers Chesterfield this term.
8. Midfield: Joel Byrom
Byrom rarely featured for the Cobblers back in League One in 2016/17 but he continues to play well into his 30s. After two years at Mansfield, he remains with Stevenage, though has managed only seven appearances this season.
