Cobblers only focused on themselves as Curle prepares for busy run

Keith Curle accepts Cobblers cannot continue to rely on other results to remain outside the relegation zone ahead of a return to action at Blackpool this evening.

Despite picking up only two points throughout the whole of January - largely due to three postponements - Town remain outside the League One relegation zone by a point. They also have two games in hand over several teams around them.

But with six Tuesday matches in a row, starting at Blackpool tonight, Curle knows that only he and his players can get themselves out of trouble.

"If you look back a few weeks ago, we were in the other position and had played two or three more games than clubs around us," said Curle. "But those teams have played their games in hand without getting away from us.

"But it's all about what we do in the games we play. We're still only halfway through the season so there will be twists and turns and we're going to compete for every point that's available.

"You can't pick an easy game in this division and you can't pick and choose a right time to play somebody or a wrong time to play somebody. Our mindset is that we've got every team to play and we look forward to all the challenges ahead of us."

Curle admits he was again left frustrated by another postponement at the weekend, but the focus has quickly shifted to tonight's rearranged trip.

"We've got 23 cup finals to go and we're looking forward to every single one of them," added Curle. "We're buoyed by recent performances and we feel it's starting to take shape.

"We've spent as much time on the training ground as we can do in the current conditions but the players are looking forward gameday and you want to see them go out and perform during those 90 minutes."
