Keith Curle is waiting for the first domino to fall before he can add to the 10 signings already made during the summer transfer window.

Jack Sowerby was the latest addition when he joined on a two-year deal from Fleetwood Town last week, but Curle still wants another forward and a new centre-back.

Although he says the club are 'handily placed' in their quest for new bodies, they must wait for other teams to push the first domino before getting deals over the line.

"It's a domino effect because we're competing for the signature of a couple of players that I think will add to the squad but unfortunately we have to wait for somebody else to press the first domino and set off a chain reaction," said Curle.

"But we're handily placed. The players I've spoken to know of our interest. I've met one and I'm going to meet another because we've been given permission by his football club to speak to him.

"Then it's about the final decision on finances with the football clubs because it's not a foregone conclusion and if the figures don't tally up, it won't happen."

Curle currently has 11 players out due to injury but even if he had a full squad to pick from, he would still be keen to make new additions.

"We're not finished," Curle added. "We're still in the building process and putting together a squad that will be competitive.

"With players being unavailable and injured, we still want to be competitive and therefore we still need a few more additions in the right areas.

"But it's about bringing in the right characters with the right characteristics, both professionally and personally, because they've got fit into our changing room."
