Cobblers stand-in manager Jon Brady will urge his side to get on the front foot and focus on the 'process' rather than the outcome when they face Burton Albion in a relegation six-pointer this weekend.

The visit of the rock-bottom Brewers will be Brady's first game in caretaker charge of Town after he replaced Keith Curle earlier in the week.

"It's a big game," admitted the former Brackley Town manager. "If we win, we could potentially pop out of the bottom four, but I don't want to put too much pressure on any of the players.

"They know how important it is and they're desperate to win the game but we've also got to concentrate on the process in terms of how we want to win and what we want to do - we can't lose sight of that.

"If we stick to the process in terms of how we're going to play, how we're going to nullify the opposition and how we're going to exploit their weaknesses, we have a good chance of winning the game.

"If you focus on simply trying to win the game, you lose sight of that process."

With Brady overseeing his first training session as early as Thursday morning, Town's players have had to adapt quickly to the change in manager.

"Most of these players have an academy mindset and they came through a system where they had a lot of different coaches and a lot of information," Brady added.

"Players are adaptable, they're resilient and they're flexible and they have to have a good mindset these days. If you're clear and concise with your information and it's simple to take on-board, they should be fine with that.

"We'll try to affect the mindset positively and we're going to play on the front foot. We'll get players connected to each other and I believe there's a good group here that can score goals and be competitive in games and climb the table."
