A number of high profile individuals have tested positive for the virus this week, including Arsenal manager Mike Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Everton's squad joined those of Chelsea and Arsenal in self-isolation after one of their first-team players showed symptoms of the virus, while Leicester manager Brendan Rogers confirmed that three of his players have also self-isolated.

While the Cobblers have reported no cases of the coronavirus at this stage, guidelines have been put in place to guard against infection, which includes players following individual training programmes.

"We've got no cases of the virus in the club at the moment and nobody is displaying any symptoms," confirmed CEO James Whiting.

"That's obviously good but we've got a few weeks now without any games taking place so we're going to give the players a period of time where they won't report into training.

"They'll be given fitness programmes to work on daily to maintain their fitness levels and then that will minimise the risks.

"Players have been advised what to do should they display any symptoms and that just also helps to reduce the risk.

"We've taken that decision and we'll also ask the club's staff to work from home for a week initially and then we'll reassess it. That's where we're at right now but we'll review and act on the information as it changes."
