Cobblers boss Keith Curle says he's hopeful of bringing in at least two new players in the early part of next week.

The Cobblers have made six signings so far this summer but look light up front after Callum Morton, Andy Williams and Vadaine Oliver all left the club for different reasons.

Harry Smith was partnered by an unnamed trialist for Saturday's friendly defeat to Luton while Sam Hoskins and Matty Warburton have also played there in pre-season.

But Curle is actively seeking to strengthen the position and he could have a couple of new faces to announce in the coming days, likely to be loans.

"We're always working," said Curle. "But I don't panic and I try to make sure I get the right people in which is all-important.

"There's targets out there that we're talking to and there are other targets which are becoming available that we're able to talk to but things need to be put in place first of all.

"What I won't do is panic and fill the changing room with bodies for the sake of it because players have got to fit into our structure, our plan and our wage structure.

"We're getting close. We've got two players that will be training with us on Monday or Tuesday next week and if we're able to get the finances sorted out between the clubs, that's something that could happen in the early part of the week.

"When I say the finances, the parent club have got to get the best deal and so have we because I know the value of what we're trying to bring in and I won't overpay because of the timing."
