Cobblers boss Wilder: There was nothing lucky about win at Argyle

The Cobblers were 2-1 winners at Home Park thanks to goals from James Collins and Marc Richards, but there has been plenty of moaning and groaning coming out of Devon that Town’s win was undeserved.

Adams felt a draw would have been the right result, and said that aside from Argyle mistakes for both goals the Cobblers didn’t create anything.

The unhappy Scotsman said: “I don’t think any team deserved to win. It was a scrappy encounter and we probably had the majority of the chances in the game but we didn’t take them.

“We made errors to give them their two goals, I don’t think they did anything else in the game.”

But Wilder shrugged off that suggestion, and said: “It was a great result, and a great performance away from home.

“We had the long journey, the difficult game on Saturday against Milton Keynes in the FA Cup, and to go down there and turn the league leaders over was great.

“No matter what anybody says, or how they want to spin it for their own supporters, that was a deserved result for us away from home.

“It is always a tough place to go, the pitch wasn’t great, they picked a team they thought could out-fight us, but we did the same to the them and we won more first and second balls and managed to play.

“I am delighted with the attitude of the players, the performance and, as always, the result. It is a big three points for us, but we move on pretty quickly to the next test, which is the one at Dagenham on Saturday.”
