Cobblers boss Curle delighted to seal signing of 'annoying' striker Rose

Keith Curle says he is delighted to have landed 'a player who used to annoy the life out of me' after the Cobblers signed Mansfield Town striker Danny Rose for an undisclosed fee.

And the Town boss is backing the all action front man to become a big hit with the Cobblers supporters after he signed a two-year deal at the PTS Academy Stadium.

Rose has been a regular thorn in teams managed by Curle in the past, most recently when the 26-year-old scored the first goal in Mansfield's 2-1 win against the Cobblers at the PTS Academy Stadium on March 7.

In a feisty game that saw Sam Hoskins sent-off after just 10 minutes, Rose more than gave as good as he got against the likes of Alan McCormack and Charlie Goode, and, as well as his scoring record, Rose's nuisance factor and aggression are parts of the front man's game that Curle has always admired.

"We are adding a player to the squad who has scored consistently throughout his career so far and someone who can play in a number of positions across the forward line," said the Cobblers boss.

"He has a good work ethic and I like his character.

"He is a player who used to annoy the life out of me when he played against me and my teams so I am delighted he will be in our dressing room now!

"He is the sort of character you love to have on your side.

"Danny is a player who I think will build up a real rapport with the fans here as I know he did with the supporters at Mansfield.

"He is a striker at an excellent age with some good experience and that is a good fit for our squad."

Curle also had words of praise for chairman Kelvin Thomas and the club's owners, as they once again provided the funds for him to strengthen the squad despite the fact there are set to be no supporters through the PTS turnstiles for many months to come.

“We also really appreciate what the board have done too, as they committed to continue with our budget plans even through these uncertain times with crowds not allowed in to matches," said the Cobblers boss.

"They have backed this up with the signing of Danny.”
