New signing taken aback by 'incredible' support from Cobblers fans at Leicester
New signing Lee Evans admits he was a bit taken aback by the ‘incredible’ number of Cobblers supporters that backed the team in Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie at Leicester City.
No official figure was given but around 2,000 Town fans packed out a corner of the King Power Stadium and they generated superb noise throughout, no doubt encouraged by their team’s positive performance.

"I think the fans will go home feeling quite happy,” said Evans. “They were incredible. I didn't realise the club were bringing so many and I didn't expect it but it was fantastic to see.
“Leicester only had one side of the pitch and we filled out that corner and they were singing as loud as they can. It was fantastic and long may it continue - but it's up to us to keep producing good performances to get their backing.”
Chris Hogg was also impressed by the turnout and he hopes it’s a sign of things to come.
"The fans were terrific and we’re very grateful,” he said. “It helps the boys and it gives them that energy to go and perform. The ovation at the end I think showed the fans appreciated the effort and the players definitely appreciated them.
"We have to carry that feeling of positivity forward with the energy and some of the stuff the boys produced on the pitch and bring it back to Sixfields.”
Midfielder Jack Perkins added: “The fans were brilliant today so a big thank you to them. They came in their numbers and made a lot of noise all game and we appreciate that a lot.
“It’s an amazing turnout and they were non-stop all game. We could have taken an opportunity to give them what they wanted but they were brilliant. It keeps driving us on. It was a tough game against a good team but they backed us all the way.”
