Cobblers have appointed Martin Foyle as their new head of recruitment.

The 58-year-old returns to Northampton having previously worked in the same role during a brief period in 2015 when appointed by then-manager Chris Wilder.

Following Simon Tracey's departure as chief scout earlier this month, Foyle comes into a slightly different role and will join the club's newly-formed committee, working alongside first-team boss Jon Brady and academy manager Ian Sampson.

As a player, Foyle played more than 550 games representing Southampton, Aldershot, Oxford United and Port Vale, while he gained considerable experience as a manager and a coach at Vale, York City, Hereford United, Southport and Bristol Rovers.

Foyle will get straight down to work spearheading Cobblers' transfer plans this summer.
