Chris Hogg provides transfer update heading into the final week of the window

Cobblers boss Chris Hogg remains hopeful of adding to his squad in the final week of the transfer window.

Town have signed 10 players so far this summer, the latest of which was striker Nathan Opoku on a permanent deal from Leicester City last week, but Hogg would like more ‘depth’ and ‘different ‘attributes’ before the window shuts. EFL clubs have until 11pm next Tuesday (September 1st) to finish their business.

“Every window is madness towards the end,” said Hogg on Wednesday. “We’ve been busy and I’m sure everyone is the same in terms of the players they want and the players they can get. The gap between those two things can sometimes be different.

“We still have some bits and pieces that we want to do but it’s assessing everything and assessing our situation and where we’re at and what’s achievable in the next six days.”

Asked what he’s looking for before the end of the window, Hogg replied: “Good players! We already have some really good players at the club but we’d like to add a bit more depth and some bits of quality and maybe some different attributes in one or two areas.

“I’m really pleased with what we’ve got and what we’ve done so far and I think the new boys have come in and enhanced us. They’re looking to make good starts to their Northampton careers and they have been a big positive for me over the past five or six weeks.”
