It’s been a deeply disappointing campaign for the Cobblers whose relegation back to League Two was confirmed with defeat to Blackpool last weekend.

But there have nonetheless been some impressive individual performers in the squad.

Ryan Watson finished the season as the club’s top scorer having managed nine goals in all competitions from midfield. Six of those goals came in a five-game burst during February and March when he injected fresh impetus into Town’s survival bid.

Local boy Shaun McWilliams has enjoyed his best season to date in terms of games played, managing 36 appearances, including 15 starts in a row. He's impressed with his typical all-action displays in midfield.

Cobblers have tightened up defensively since the turn of the year. After struggling badly, they have managed 10 clean sheets in 25 games, and much of that owes to the excellent performances of Lloyd Jones, as well as the significant improvement of centre-back partner Fraser Horsfall.

Right-back Peter Kioso is another player to have earned plaudits from all quarters following his arrival on loan from Luton in January. He not only helped to keep things tight at the back but also managed three goals and two assists.
