Goode was a firm favourite with supporters right from the moment he joined the club on loan in January 2019. He made a total of 62 appearances for Northampton and captained the side to League Two play-off glory at Wembley last season.

The move to Brentford completes a remarkable turnaround from outsider at previous club Scunthorpe United to now Championship defender.

"Firstly, I'd like to start by saying a massive thank you to everyone at Northampton Town for the last 18 months," said Goode.

"Most importantly I'd like to thank the fans who have taken to me since the first day I arrived and supported me throughout my time which helped a lot on our journey.

"To be appointed captain by the manager was something that made my very proud and to finish my time at Northampton by leading the side out at Wembley and sealing promotion in the style we did is something that I will never forget!

"The way the club is run is brilliant, especially through these tough times, and I owe a lot of thanks to many people at the club, starting from the chairman, to the manager and his staff, players and of course everyone else behind the scenes that helps the club succeed.

"I wish you all the best for the future and from now on I'll always be a fan. Up the Cobblers!"
