The Cobblers have confirmed the the appointment of former Sheffield United, Watford and Wales defender Page as the replacement for Chris Wilder.

Wilder quit Sixfields for Sheffield United last Thursday, and chairman Kelvin Thomas has taken just a week to find his new man, with Page leaving Town’s Sky Bet League One rivals Port Vale to sign on at Sixfields.

A compensation package has been agreed with Valiants, and Page joins Northampton from Vale Park, where he was appointed first team manager in September 2014 after spells as youth team coach, assistant manager and caretaker manager.

In his time in charge, Page took Port Vale from second from bottom when he was appointed in October 2014, to a final finishing position of 12th in the 2015/16 season.

Page has signed a three-year deal at Sixfields, and joining him will be John Harbin, who will take up the role of performance coach.

Further backroom additions will be announced in due course.
