Cobblers have made their third signing of the January transfer window by agreeing a loan deal with Portsmouth for midfielder Bryn Morris.

The 24-year-old, another player who has been on Keith Curle's radar for a while, will spend the rest of the season at the PTS Academy Stadium after struggling for regular game-time at Fratton Park.

Morris started his career with Middlesbrough and enjoyed loan spells with Burton Albion, Coventry City, York City and Walsall before joining Shrewsbury Town in January 2017.

In a two-year spell at Shrewsbury he played 43 times, including in the 2017/18 League One play-off semi-finals and final, as well as making another 21 appearances on loan at Wycombe Wanderers.

He joined Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee in January 2019 and has made 28 appearances for Pompey, 18 of which have come this season. He played 90 minutes for Portsmouth in both legs of last season's League One play-off semi-finals against Oxford United.

However, he has not started a league game since October and was therefore keen on a move away from Fratton Park to play regular football.

Morris has also represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-19 levels, captaining each of the age groups.

The deadline for signing players in time for Tuesday's game at Blackpool was midday on Monday.
