Versatile defender Peter Kioso has signed for the Cobblers on loan from Championship outfit Luton Town.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Hatters from Hartlepool 12 months ago, becomes Keith Curle's fourth January signing and will spend the rest of the season at the PTS Academy Stadium following an impressive loan spell with Bolton Wanderers in League Two.

Kioso is an athletic and highly-rated young defender who can play at full-back or wing-back. He dropped out of the professional game having come through the ranks at MK Dons and was picked up by Hartlepool in the summer of 2018 following a spell with Southern League side Dunstable Town.

Born in Dublin to Congolese parents, Kioso rebuilt his career during a season under former Luton Town youth coach Tony McCool at Creasey Park before catching the eye on trial at Pools.

He made 70 appearances and scored four goals with Hartlepool before moving to Luton in January 2020, followed by a loan stint at Bolton in the first half of the current season.

Kioso made a big impression for the Trotters, particularly in an attacking sense with three goals and two assists in 13 appearances, but was recalled earlier in January before being allowed back out again by Hatters chief Nathan Jones.

The deadline for players to be registered in time for tomorrow's game at Fleetwood was midday but the club are yet to confirm whether or not Kioso is available to travel to the Highbury Stadium.
