Cobblers have landed one of Keith Curle's long-time summer targets by snapping up Jack Sowerby from League One rivals Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder has been on Curle's radar for some time and the Town boss finally got the deal done on Friday when Sowerby put pen to paper on two-year contract with the option for a further year.

The 25-year-old made 96 appearances for Fleetwood, with 30 of those games coming during the 2019/20 season when the Cod Army reached the League One play-offs.

Sowerby also enjoyed a successful loan spell at Carlisle United in the 2018/19 season, scoring five times in 28 appearances.

He started out at Preston North End before joining Fleetwood as a 19-year-old in 2014 and was still under contract at the north-west club after signing a long-term deal in 2018.
