Cobblers have signed striker Alex Jones on a contract until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old frontman started his career with Birmingham City and had loan spells at Grimsby Town and Port Vale, for whom he scored nine times in 19 games.

Jones then joined Bradford City in 2017 and returned five goals in 24 appearances at Valley Parade before heading north of the border to Partick Thistle where he scored twice in 12 matches.

Caretaker boss Jon Brady has now brought him to Northampton in the hope he will help solve the team's troubles in front of goal - no side in League One has scored fewer goals this season.

The 6ft 1in striker will wear squad number 10 and could feature in the squad for tonight's game against Plymouth Argyle.
