BREAKING: Cobblers sign Mansfield Town striker Danny Rose

The Cobblers have boosted their attacking options with the signing of experienced Mansfield Town striker Danny Rose for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the PTS Academy Stadium, with the option for a third, and is available for selection for Town's Sky Bet League One trip to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Rose will be well known to Cobblers supporters, and scored the first goal for the Stags in their 2-1 win in the final match played at the PTS before the coronavrius pandemic, back on March 7.

He also netted twice in Mansfield's 4-0 Field Mill demolition of Town in Dean Austin's final match in charge in September, 2018.

A combative front man, Rose began his career with his home town club Barnsley, before he signed for Bury in 2014, where he was a team-mate of current Cobblers club captain Nicky Adams.

He spent more than two seasons with the Shakers, scoring 20 goals in 34 starts and 47 substitute appearances, before joining Mansfield in the summer of 2016.

While at Field Mill, he scored 44 goals for the Stags in 113 starts and 52 appearances off the bench.

He was named the Mansfield Town players' player of the season in 2017/18, and last season he scored 12 times in 34 appearances before the campaign was called to an early halt.

This season, Rose started the Stags' first game of the season, a 4-0 defeat at Preston North End in the Carabao Cup on August 29, but has not featured in the match day squad since.
