Cobblers have re-signed defender Lloyd Jones on a deal until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old, a 6ft 3in central defender, spent some time on loan at Northampton last season, making seven appearances before the campaign was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He started his career at Plymouth Argyle before joining Liverpool for £150,000 in 2013.

During his time at Anfield, when he captained the reserve team, he had loan spells at Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley, Blackpool and Swindon Town, making well over 50 appearances, mostly in League One.

In January 2018, Jones joined Luton Town for an undisclosed fee, and spent time on loan at Plymouth Argyle in 2018/19. He is now back at the PTS until May.

Meanwhile, Blackpool loanee Joe Nuttall has been taken off the squad list. The striker has made just one substitute appearance for Town due to a knee injury.

The Cobblers have also spoken to Luka Racic's parent club Brentford about recalling the young defender while Jacob Ballinger's contract at Northampton has come to an end and he is set to leave the club.
