'Exciting' Leeds United midfielder joins Cobblers in second deadline day signing
Cobblers have completed their second deadline day signing with the addition of ‘exciting’ midfielder Sam Chambers.
The 19-year-old, an attack-minded midfielder who can also play out wide and up front, joins Northampton on a season-long loan from Leeds United and is the second incoming on deadline day after defender Josh Powell.
"Sam is an exciting, young attacking player who can play in a variety of midfield positions but primarily he operates in an attacking midfield role," explained manager Chris Hogg.
Chambers is a product of the Leeds United Academy and made his first-team debut for Leeds in November 2024 in the 3-0 Championship win against Plymouth Argyle. He then made his full debut later that season in an FA Cup tie against Millwall and signed a new long-term deal with Leeds last summer, keeping him at the club until 2028.
The Leeds-born youngster has also represented Scotland at under-19 level.
The availability of both Chambers and Powell for tonight’s game against Crawley has not been confirmed.
