Cobblers have made their first signing of the January transfer window by securing long-time target Mickel Miller on loan for the rest of the season.

The attacker was linked with the Cobblers in both of the last two summers but joined Championship side Rotherham United on a two-year deal in July.

However, Town manager Keith Curle, a keen admirer of the player for the past couple of seasons, finally has his man with the Millers agreeing to loan him out for the remainder of the campaign.

The 25-year-old, who can play either as a striker or out wide, started his career as a prolific goalscorer with Carshalton Athletic, where he also spent time in the V9 Jamie Vardy Academy, before moving north of the border with Hamilton Academical.

In a successful two and a half years in Scotland, Miller made 68 appearances, scoring nine times, which included finishing as Hamilton's top scorer in the 2018/19 Scottish Premiership season.

He moved to Rotherham United in the summer of 2020 and has made nine appearances in the Championship so far this season.
