Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture between Northampton Town and Oxford United has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Heavy rain on Thursday and again on Saturday morning had caused concern and after an inspection from referee Thomas Bramall, it was decided that the pitch would not be in a fit state.

"In the interests of player safety, the correct decision was to call the game off," said Bramall. "There has been a lot of rain here over the last few days, the pitch is very wet and as always, the safety of the players is of paramount importance."

The fixture will be rearranged in due course.
