Jon Brady has reiterated the need to bring in more players that will help Cobblers ‘on the offensive line’ before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.

Town have scored four goals in their first two games but are short on depth in forward areas and at Grimsby on Saturday, they laboured as an attacking force and struggled to create chances aside from Sam Hoskins’ fine finish on 74 minutes.

Brady’s search for attacking players in the final month of the window has been no secret and he repeated the need to bring in further bodies following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Blundell Park, especially with a couple of his players yet to find their sharpness.

"I’m working extremely hard, day and night, I really am,” said Brady. “One minute, you feel you are close but then you’re a bit further away than you think and these things do take a bit of time.

"We have some things bubbling away and we will keep working hard. You feel that if you work that hard, one or two will come off and we just have to keep believing and keep our fingers crossed.

"We do need some help on the offensive line, certainly. There are a lot of different scenarios and different reasons when you are trying to get a player. Most players will be attached to a club and some you are trying to prise out and they don’t want to let them go.

"It’s a work in progress and we will keep going. If we get what we want, I’m confident that it will really help our front-line.”
