Brady believes justice was done as Cobblers fight back after refereeing controversy

Jon Brady felt justice had been served when his side salvaged a stoppage-time equaliser against Stockport County on Tuesday.

Town were set for a hard-earned and well-deserved at Edgeley Park until referee Jacob Miles awarded the hosts an extremely contentious penalty on 87 minutes after Cameron McGeehan tangled with Kyle Wootton in the penalty box.

Louie Barry converted but there was still time for more drama as Cobblers nicked an excellent away point thanks to Tyler Magloire’s heroics in the 93rd minute when he launched himself at Tariqe Fosu’s free-kick and headed home.

"We knew how hard the challenge would be tonight but, apart from the first 10 minutes, we were really strong out of possession,” said Brady. “They hit the bar but we adjusted shape a little bit and reduced them to just three shots on target all game.

"Then comes the penalty. Wootton’s not even watching the ball. I’ve seen it back and Wootton uses his arm to hook under Cam’s arm and he pulls Cam down over the top of him. He’s not even looking at the corner.

"The ref gives it right in front of their home fans and I think he’ll be very disappointed when he sees it back. He has a great view and he’s six yards away. Cam can’t help but fall over him because he’s being pulled to the ground.

"Before that moment, we hit the post and Tariqe has a volley that was going in until he hits their defender on the shoulder, but for Tyler to pop up with the equaliser right at the end, that was something very special.”
