Jon Brady believes he is the man to keep Cobblers in Sky Bet League One this season.

Town’s stand-in manager oversaw his fourth game in caretaker charge on Tuesday evening when they were held to a goalless draw by fellow strugglers Rochdale.

Brady is still waiting for his first win since replacing Keith Curle two weeks ago but, in the clearest indication yet that he would take the job full-time if offered it - at least until the end of the season - he insists that progress is being made and he can keep the club in the division.

“I haven’t been told anything in terms of where I’m at going forward,” said Brady following Tuesday’s draw. “I believe I will be taking training on Thursday and Friday and I’ll be planning to lead the team on Saturday.

“I’ve been asked to step in at the moment and I think we have made positive changes in the way we’re playing and the style of our play.

“I believe we’ve made changes in terms of the amount of chances we are creating – we’ve created more chances than the opposition in every game but I can’t put the ball in the back of the net for the players.

“I am doing every single thing I can at the moment in terms of coaching individuals. I did a motivational session with the players for 10, 15 minutes in an auditorium to show them where we're at and where we're going and how we can go forward.

“In my opinion, I believe I’m the man to keep us in League One but that’s out of my power.

“With the help of our staff and the players we’ve got, we will stay in League One, whether it’s me or someone else.”
