Brackley Town sign ex-Yeovil Town and West Brom forward to bolster attacking options

Brackley Town have announced the signing of versatile forward Tahvon Campbell on a permanent deal, just three months after he initially joined on loan.

Campbell arrives following the expiry of his contract at Yeovil Town, where he recently concluded his third spell at Huish Park.

The 29-year-old, a West Bromwich Albion academy product, only scored one goal in four games for Brackley at the tail-end of last season but he didn’t have a proper opportunity to hit the ground running.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the Saints’ new-look attack, Campbell has racked up more than 250 senior appearances and over 50 goals.

Predominantly a centre-forward but also commonly found off the left, Campbell has spent most of his career so far at League Two and National League level.

There may be some reservations about his mere three goals in 32 appearances for Yeovil last term but many of those were off the bench.

A drop down to the National League North may benefit Campbell, who will be eager to build a partnership with retained long-term servant Matt Lowe.

Upon joining Brackley, Campbell said: “The gaffer is a really good coach. His training sessions are very good, he makes sure all the players know exactly what they need to be doing, and he’s someone I work well under.

“I’m excited to be back and I’m looking to repay the faith he’s put in me.”

Head coach Andy Whing, who was frustrated by a lack of clinicality from his Brackley side at the end of last season, will be hoping Campbell’s permanent arrival can spark an improvement.

“We’re delighted to be able to bring in Tahvs permanently,” Whing added.

“We didn’t get to see the best of him when he came on loan at the back end of the season but I know what he’s capable of and I’m sure we will see and get the best out of him this season.

“Whether that’s his hold up play and bringing other players into the game or scoring goals, he’ll be a very good signing for us."

Campbell becomes the third addition of the summer, after midfielder Charlie Cooper and defender Will Armitage.
