Brackley Town boss Andy Whing hails ‘on last legs’ squad despite Chorley implosion
Andy Whing was thrilled with Brackley Town’s performance despite giving up a 2-0 lead in a 2-2 draw away at Chorley on Bank Holiday Monday.
Tahvon Campbell scored twice to earn the Saints a 2-0 advantage in Lancashire, however Elliott Taylor’s brace late in the second half shared the spoils.

The Saints used up all their extra energy to fight for a draw at Chorley after their Saturday game against South Shields was rained off midway through the first half.
As much as it was frustrating for Brackley to have to abandon their Saturday fixture, it allowed the injury-stricken squad to keep a little more in the tank for the trip to Chorley.
But even then, the lack of depth and stamina allowed the hosts a way back into the game, with late mistakes and poor defending from set pieces proving to be the difference.
Whing decided to throw central defender Will Armitage back into the starting lineup a little prematurely after an injury, due to a lack of options at the back.
Meanwhile, midfielder Kai Lissimore had to play in an auxiliary defensive position to make up the numbers and Whing was unable to make substitutions when he otherwise would have.
Whing told @BrackleyTownFC: “Will has had a tough start. He’s been injured, come back, got injured again, forced back. He was on his last legs!
“Kai Lissimore, he had cramp with 15 or 20 minutes to go. We can’t change it, I haven’t got a defender fit.
“I feel so sorry for them more than anything. At the minute it’s going against us, with the injuries and suspensions affecting us a bit.
“We’ve come away to a tough place. Yes, we’re disappointed because we want to see games out and win games of football, but there’s loads to like about that performance.”
The main positive to take from the draw at Chorley was Campbell ending his wait for a goal, with two coming in the same game.
It’s hoped the striker signing can kick on from here and lead Brackley to victories rather than draws.
Whing continued: “Tahv has needed that. He needed a goal.
“It wasn’t his best game against King’s Lynn (on August 18) but the rest of the games, he’s been fantastic holding the ball up for us and letting runners in beyond him.
“I’m really pleased with his two fantastic goals today, two top number-nine goals. Hopefully that will give him a lot of confidence.”
Brackley are next in action this Saturday (3pm) as they host Harborough Town at St James Park.
